Ingredients

Syrup

1/2 cup sugar

1 cup honey

3/4 cup water

3/4 teaspoon lemon juice

Cake

3/4 cup butter

3/4 cup sugar

3 eggs

1 cup flour, sifted

1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 cup milk

1/2 teaspoon grated orange rind

1 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation

Syrup Mix sugar, honey and water in a saucepan and simmer 5 minutes. Skim and add lemon juice and boil another 2 minutes. Cool Cake Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well each time. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Add to batter. Stir in milk and orange rind. Mix well and stir in nuts. Pour into a greased and floured 8 X 8 X 2 inch pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until done. Remove from oven and cut into diamond shapes in the pan while still not. Pour over syrup, refrigeraate and let soak until ready to serve.
