Ingredients
Grapenut mixture: 1 quart milk
1 cup grapenuts cereal
2 egg yolks
4 tbsp sugar
pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla
2 egg whites beaten stiff
Lemon sauce: 1/4 cup butter
2/3 cups sugar
2 tbsp flour
1 cup boiling water
2 tbsp lemon juice
Preparation
Bring milk and grapenuts to a boil Remove from heat and bring to room temperature
Stir in 2 egg yolks and 4 tbsp sugar
Add salt and vanilla. Stir to blend
Fold in egg whites
Pour in buttered baking dish and bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes
Lemon sauce: In a saucepan blend the butter, sugar and flour
Gradually add the boiling water, boil for 3 mintes
Whisk as cooking until suitable thickness
Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice
Pour some sauce over top of pudding and/or retain for serving individual portions
