Ingredients

1 Tbsp.sugar

1/2 c. warm water

2 Tbsp. yeast

Dissolve sugar in warm water. Add yeast and let stand 10 mins. and then stir well.

2 cups milk

2 tsp.salt

Heat over low heat until lukewarm.

Add milk mixture to dissolved yeast mixture.

Add 3 cups flour combined with 1/4 tsp. baking soda.

Mix until smooth.

Add 3 cups of flour to make a stiff batter.

Divide batter in half.

Grease and sprinkle two smaller loaf pans with cornmeal.

Press batter into pans and sprinkle top with cornmeal.

Let rise in a warm place till double in bulk or 11/2 " above the edge of the pan.

Preparation

Bake @ 400 degrees for 25 mins.
