Ingredients

2 1/2 cups water

2 pkgs. dry quick rise yeast

1/4 cup shortening

1/2 cp sugar

2 tsps salt

6-7 cups flour

Preparation

Place yeast, salt, sugar and 2-3 cups flour in mixing bowl. Heat water and shortening to 120-130 degrees. Add to bowl. Stir in another cup or two of flour as needed before beginning the kneeding process. Kneed about 10 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Avoid adding too much flour which will result in rolls like rocks!! Place in greased bowl and cover with dish towel. Let rise until double; about 1 1/2 hours. Shapes into buns. Let rise until double or nearly so. Bake about 20 minutes or so at 375 degrees. Brush with butter when removed from oven.
