Ingredients

4 Tablespoons Crisco

3/4 cup brown sugar, packed

3/4 cup molasses

1/4 cup cold water

3 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon allspice

1/2 teaspoon ginger

1/2 teaspoon cloves

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 1/2 Tablespoons cold water

Preparation

In a food processor, cream crisco, add sugar gradually and cream thoroughly. Blend in mollases. Sift flour with spices and salt. Stir 1/2 into molasses mixture alternating with the 1/4 cup water. Mix last of flour in by hand. Dissolve baking soda in 1 1/2 Tablespoons water and blend in dough. Chill dough, then roll out 1/2 inch thick on lightly floured board. Form “Gingies” with 2 1/2 inch cookie cutter. Place gingies far apart on greased baking sheet. Bake 15-18 minutes in a moderate (350) oven. Do not overbake. Frost, serve, enjoy!
