Ingredients
3 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
1 tsp salt
dash of pepper
1 tsp prepared mustard
1-1/3 cup milk
1 egg yolk , beaten
2 cups shredded cabbage
1 cup onions, thinly sliced
1 cup shredded cheese
1 cup buttered bread crumbs, toasted ( can use pepperidge farm dressing)
Preparation
Melt butter, add flour, salt, pepper and mustard, stirring constantly until bubbly. Add milk and continue stirring until thickened. Add egg yolk and cook one minute . Into a baking dish, place layers of half the cabbage, onions cheese and cream sauce. Repeat layers, using the rest of the ingredients. Top with buttered crumbs, cover and bake in 375 deg oven for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 5 minutes of until lightly browned.
