Ingredients
6 tablespoons butter or shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons ginger
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Preparation
Beat butter with sugar until light. Mix in molasses and egg. Sift dry ingredients and add to wet mixture. Mix well. Chill in freezer 1 hour or in refrigerator 2 hours. Heat oven to 350ºF. Roll into 1-inch balls and dip in sugar. Baked on greased baking sheet 10-12 minutes. Cool.
