Ingredients
3 ½ cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
1 ½ tsp ginger
½ tsp cloves
½ cup butter
¾ cup light brown sugar
1 egg
¾ cup light molasses
Preparation
Measure flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, and cloves into bowl. Beat butter, sugar, and egg until light and fluffy. Add molasses, beat until well blended. With wooden spoon, stir in flour mixture. Mix by hand until well blended and smooth. Divide in half, flatten into squares, wrap in waxed paper, refrigerate several hours. Preheat oven to 350º. Place dough on a well-greased cookie sheet. Using a lightly-floured rolling pin, roll the dough to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut out shapes, walls, doors, etc. Bake 8-10 min.
