Ingredients
2 cups sugar plus additional sugar for rolling
1 1/2 cups butter
1/2 cup light molasses
2 large eggs
4 1/2 cups white flour
3 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
Preparation
Mix together 2 cups sugar, butter, molasses, and eggs.
Sift together flour, baking soda, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, and salt.
Add dry ingredients to sugar mixture. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls, roll in sugar, and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake approximately 10 minutes.
