Ingredients

2 cups sifted flour

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp ginger

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1/2 tsp ground cloves

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 egg

1/4 cup shortening

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup molasses

1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 1/2 cup hot water

Preparation

Combine flour and spices in bowl and mix

Combine wets and sugar

Stir together, chill dough, drop rounded balls 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet
