Ingredients

2 1/4 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp ginger

1/2 tsp clove

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp nutmeg

3/4 cup butter, softened

1 cup sugar

1/4 cup molasses

1 egg

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350F.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, soda, and salt. In a small bowl, combine ginger, clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

In food processor cream butter and sugar. Add molasses, egg, and spices. Gently fold in flour mixture until combined.

Roll dough into 1 1/2 inch balls. Then roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.

Bake until edges start to brown, about 15 minutes. Centers will be slightly soft. Let stand on baking sheets 1 minute then remove to cooling rack.
