Ingredients

1 Loaf of french bread

Soft butter (not margarine, real butter)

Garlic salt

Preparation

Slice bread to desired thickness (I usually cut it at about an inch thick). Butter one side entirely and liberally sprinkle with garlic salt. Place in your oven or toaster oven (buttered side up) with the setting on broil and the temperature set at 375. (I like my bread completely toasted through, but depending on how you like it you can vary the temperature. Turn the temp down if you want it toasted through or turn it up if you want the top crusty and the bottom soft.) Be careful, set a timer and watch the bread close. It’s a little like watching boiling water, the minute you turn your back the bread is burnt.
