Ingredients

1/2 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

1 egg yolk

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 3/4 cup flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon soda

Fruit Topping

To remaining egg white blend in

2 tablespoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon clove

1/2 cup diced mixed candied fruit

1 cup chopped nuts

Preparation

Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt and soda. Add to butter mixture.

Place dough on ungreased 15 1/2 x 12 cookie sheet. Flatten dough a little. Cover with wax paper and roll to 10 x 12. Spread topping over dough. Bake 20 minutes or until golden brown at 350 degrees. Cool on cookie sheet. Cut into bars 1 x 2 inches.
