Ingredients

French bread, cut into 4 thick slices

Sweet onion, sliced thin

4 Tbspn butter

French Onion soup broth

paprika

thickly sliced meunster or mozerrela or swiss or gruyere cheese

1 Tbspn balsamic vinegar

Preparation

Preheat broiler on low broil.

Melt butter in large pot Add sweet onions. Cook until onions are completely carmelized. Add a little salt. Add broth. Simmer for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to low and add in vinegar. Keep on low.

Meanwhile, arrange bread slices on baking sheet and broil for 3 minutes, turning once, until well toasted. Remove from heat.

In onion soup bakeware placed atop a baking sheet, fill each bowl 2/3 full with soup. Top with toasted bread, 2 slices of cheese each and a sprinkle of paprika in center.

Broil 5 minutes or until bubbly.

Serve immediately.
